Three Ways To Improve The Feng Shui For Your Home's Exterior

As soon as I invested in my dream home, my friends started coming out of the woodwork to explain how I could make the space more beautiful. Fortunately, one of my friends is an interior designer, and she helped me to learn a few different techniques for improving the aesthetics of my home. It was incredible to work with her to find out all about the different decor trends, and I was able to find a few designs that really worked with my lifestyle. This blog is all about understanding and applying basic home decoration techniques so that your home can be more beautiful than ever before.

Three Ways To Improve The Feng Shui For Your Home's Exterior

If you're looking to improve the Feng Shui of your home, and have decided to focus on the exterior, then you're probably looking for some suggestions. There are many different items that you can get that will help you create a positive energy and will also be a beautiful addition to the exterior of your home. Here are three different ideas.

Copper Rain Chains In Lieu Of Downspouts

One of the most important aspects to creating a good atmosphere for Feng Shui is the inclusion of moving water. This is why so many people try and incorporate a fountain into their backyard, or even try and construct the house by the side of a stream or babbling brook. However, if you have a house that is not already situated near a stream or brook, then you do have an alternative. You might want to install a stand alone fountain, but this might not look proper in your front yard, and you might not have room in your backyard. So, a great alternative to a fountain would be rain chains. You can get beautiful copper rain chains and hook them up to your gutters in lieu of a rigid downspout. This way, when it is raining out, the water will cascade down through the copper chains. It's a controlled display of flowing water which follows Feng Shui principals.

Hanging Decorative Mirrors

Another big concept in Feng Shui is the use of mirrors. You can get small hanging mirrors and attach them to your soffits so that the mirrors reflect outwards. In Feng Shui, mirrors are used to reflect out the bad energy. So, you should always hang the mirrors so that they face away from the house, as they are intended to protect your home from bad energy that might be flowing towards it. You can get either large mirrors and attach them to the soffits, or you can get dangling designs that have multiple little reflective mirrors.

Wind Chimes

Wind chimes are used to help disrupt stagnant or bad energy. You can get bamboo style wind chimes, or copper style. Hang them from the soffit (you can get special hangers if you don't feel like drilling holes into your soffit). Bamboo is a great choice if you're looking for a traditional Chinese design style. These wind chimes would have been the most easily accessible for people in early Chinese culture, and still hold great nostalgic appeal.
